Graduation SVG File: Free SVG Files for Cricut and Silhouette Cutting Machines

In today’s blog post I am excited to share some free graduation SVG files that are perfect to use with your cutting machine.

The cool thing about today’s post is that you get not just 1 graduation SVG freebie from me, but also free files from a group of my designing buddies.

Head all the way down to the bottom of the post to download mine, and get the links to my crafty friends’ designs.

This Graduation SVG free design can be used for both personal and commercial use up to 200 uses. Graduation SVG

Who do you know that would love this design and what color scheme are you going with?

For me, seeing you bring the designs to life is the most fun part of the process of designing for you.  Seeing how you take something like this graduation svg file and run with it is so inspiring!

Please shoot me an email or I would be honored if you posted it inside of our community. Please note that the images used to display the Graduation SVG in this post are all mock up images.

Center Your Design Every Single Time

It can be really nerve racking when you are trying to make sure your design is centered and placed in the correct spot on your blank

It is the worst when you go to all the trouble of picking out a design, getting it downloaded, cut, weeded, and applied only to find out that it is totally off center.

My absolutely favorite way to ensure my design is centered on the shirt is by folding it in half and using the crease of the fold to guide my placement. I also use the finger tip rule when deciding how far down my image should be placed.

Usually applying the SVG directly underneath 3 finger tips from the bottom of the shirt collar is the right spot for an adult shirt.  Kids should be about 2 finger tips or so.

This alignment tool is also super handy if you are on team ruler. (I’m team eyeball all the way) lol!

Color Options

In the mock up image I decided to use a retro color scheme.  But really this would be cute in school colors, an ombre style, or even in a rainbow! No matter which of these variations speak to you, (or maybe something different all together like a pattern for the background) I would still love to see your finished project!  Share in the comments what the color scheme you plan on using for your project! DON’T FORGET:

If you are a Silhouette Studio user and have not yet upgraded your software with the one time fee to the paid version you will need to upload the DXF version of the file instead of the SVG.  If opening the SVG file and you are getting an error message this could be the reason why.

Unfortunately anytime you are working with the DXF version of the file it cuts crazy slow!  It is just the nature of that specific file type.  It is the WORST!  This is because of how many nodes (little points in the design) are in DXF files.  It happens with every single DXF file that you might want to use on your machine.
I highly, highly, highly (did I say highly lol) recommend doing a tiny offset of the DXF cutting line and cut the offset on your machine instead of the original line.  Your cutting time will be drastically sped up and so much smoother!
Or in my opinion just upgrade!  It will make your life so much easier.
Head over to our Facebook Community and show off your designs and let’s spread the crafty love as we inspire each other to create!

File Type Reminder:  Double check that you are working with the SVG file if you want to ungroup, cut in different colors, and manipulate the elements of the design.  When just starting out with your machine, deciphering the various file types can be very confusing.

The description under file type inside the file folder once it is unzipped might say html file, chrome, or even internet explorer file (these are both the SVG).

If you aren’t able to ungroup and manipulate the elements in the design you might be uploading the wrong file!  Read more about when to use what file and the difference between SVG and PNG file types.
