Running SVG Designs:  Free Files for Silhouette and Cricut Machines

Well, I have finally committed, and signed up to complete a half marathon, hence the birth of these running SVG files.  I figure if I am crazy enough to train for a half, I might as well make myself something cute to wear while doing it.

These running SVG files would be cute on shirts, tanks, or even on a hat!

Completing a marathon before 40 has been a goal of mine for quite some time and that number is getting closer and closer.  A half marathon is the first step.

I have never been a runner and always struggled in that area but using these running svg designs to give me a chuckle and some motivation will be fun.

Are you a runner?  What advice do you have for me as I dive into this journey?

Running SVG

UPDATE:  I originally wrote this blog post one year ago and since then I have completed not only a half marathon but also 2 full marathons!

I actually just finished the Dopey at Disney World where I ran the following:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
  • Full Marathon (26.2 miles)

All in 4 days!  Here are some fun pics of me on the runs at Disney. (feel free to scroll down to the bottom of the post for you free running SVG files)

I was so excited to actually get a jump shot on the race!

5K finish line!

Still having fun during the 10k!

Running down Main Street was incredible!

Working through the pain during the half marathon!

Finally finished with the full marathon!

Getting to show off all the bling!

Running a Disney World Race was a bucket list item and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to check it off!  I want to encourage you to go after your dreams and goals no matter how big or small they are.  I’m cheering you on!

Not A Runner

Maybe you aren’t a runner but love being, or getting, in shape.  These fitness designs are perfect for you.  Or maybe you are in the same boat as me and it’s always been a struggle… these funny workout designs might be more your speed.

Each running SVG design can be used for both personal and commercial use (made in your own home) up to 200 uses.

Then, I would love to see how you bring these designs to life!  Make sure to shoot us an email or post your project inside of our community.

Please note that all the images used to display the running svg files in this post are mock up images.

Rise and Run

For some reason working out first thing in the morning always gives me a little pep in my step for the rest of the day.  The idea that in a perfect world I would rise and run is the inspo behind this file…

With 4 kids (and life) though, that doesn’t always happen… can you relate?

This rise and run design is catchy and would be so stinkin’ cute to put on shirts for some kind of a running club or group. (they have those right?). I can already see each member in different colors and maybe names on the back?  Please make sure to share a pic if you decide to go this route!

Hush Legs – We Got This!

The other day my daughter went on one of my runs with me.

On a side-note isn’t it amazing how the youth can motivate and push you?  It was the fastest pace I have done yet!

Anyway, we were chatting and she was saying how her biggest struggle wasn’t that her legs were tired or sore and I just had to laugh.  My legs were burning and this design is what I was having to tell them to get through it.

Everything Hurts and I’m Dying #runnerlife

This running design goes along nicely with the previous one.

Now, let’s get something straight… when I say I am completing a half marathon I literally mean complete.  I will NOT be running the entire thing.

My goal is to finish, and that means that I will be alternating walking and jogging.  Slow and steady wins the race (or at least finishes it) and that is my number one goal… FINISH!

Pain is Temporary

During the longer races I personally love to go with a pacer.  It helps keep me on track and is super encouraging when you are dying on the end miles.  One thing my pacer continued to tell me was pain is temporary but the results and bragging rights are forever.  This made me smile and kept me going when I wanted to quit.  I knew I had to make it into a design!

Line Things Up Easily

In my personal opinion one of the trickiest parts about making a shirt is being sure that the vinyl is lined up and applied in the correct spot.

There is nothing worse than taking time to download, cut, weed, and apply only to find out that it is totally off center.  My absolutely favorite and quickest way to make sure my design is centered on the shirt is by folding it in half and using the crease to guide me.

To decide the distance down from the collar I use the finger tip rule.  Usually applying the SVG directly underneath 3 finger tips from the bottom of the shirt collar is the right spot for an adult shirt.  This alignment tool is also super handy if you are team ruler.

How Much to Charge

These Running SVG files are available for you to use for personal and commercial use. A struggle that I know lots of crafters have though, is how much to charge if they want to sell their items. Use our free pricing calculator to figure out exactly the best price for you and your target market.  Even if you are just starting out, don’t be scared to charge an amount that will actually give you a profit!

DON’T FORGET

If you are a Silhouette Studio user and have not yet upgraded your software to the one time fee paid version you will need to upload the DXF version of the file instead of the SVG.  If opening the SVG file and you an error message this might be why.

Unfortunately the DXF version of the file cuts so ridiculously slow.  It is just the nature of that specific file type.  It is really the WORST!  This is because of how many nodes (little points in the design) are in DXF files.
It happens with every single DXF file that you might want to use on your machine.  I highly, highly, highly (did I say highly lol) recommend doing a tiny offset of the DXF cutting line and cut the offset on your machine instead of the original line (or even better just upgrade your software).  Your cutting time will be drastically sped up and so much smoother!

Favorite Crafting Supplies

My favorite spot to shop for vinyl (both adhesive and heat transfer vinyl) is hands down Expressions Vinyl.   And, who doesn’t love the convenience of shopping on Amazon.  They have so many cute blanks and next day delivery for no extra charge… yes please!  Check out all of my Amazon favorites and crafting tools here in my Amazon shop.

More Running and Workout SVG Files

Even though I haven’t even done a half marathon I have done several 5k races.  Inside of our monthly membership Club Chaos we have a variety of additional running designs to choose from.

Our Club consists of exclusive SVG files, monthly project tutorials, monthly guest designers, and more.  While the downloads in the Club are amazing, the project tutorials are so helpful, and the fonts are a blast to design with,  the best part is the creative energy and people found inside.

Club members get their own FB community and our members are so close they call it their crafty sisterhood.  I feel honored to be a part of it with them.

Sharing their best tips, their wins, and even what they have learned is so special.  In addition to a monthly exclusive bundle of designs, members get project tutorials, fonts, member led workshops (a great way to share your talent), monthly guest designers and more. Crafting and creating is so much more fun (and meaningful) when you share it and your creations with others who get it and appreciate it the same way you do.  Learn more about Club Chaos here.

Every design is easily cuttable on your cutting machine.  (it doesn’t matter if you have a Cricut, Silhouette, Glowforge, or other)  Inside the Club we are a sisterhood of crafty women cheering you on in your wins and there for support in case you get stuck or need assistance!

If you join us as a semi-annual or annual Club member you also get immediate access to a BONUS library of hundreds of exclusive designs as well. I have no doubt that you would feel right at home inside of the Club

Running SVG

Then of course no running post would be complete without remembering the real reason why I like to run…. because I love to snack!

Ice cream just tastes so much better after you have worked for it!  LOL!

Download your Free Running SVG Files Here:

Please note that the Running SVG files are all inside zipped folders.  You will need to unzip the file folder first to access the SVG file inside.

File Type Reminder:  Double check that when using the files if possible utilize the SVG.  It will make your life so much easier if you want to ungroup, cut in different colors, and manipulate the elements of the design.

When just beginning with your machine, deciphering the various file types can be very confusing.  First double check that you have unzipped the file.  Once it is unzipped the files might say html file or even internet explorer file (these are both the SVG).

Bottom line is if you aren’t able to ungroup and manipulate the elements in the design you might be uploading the wrong file!  Read more about when to use what file and the difference between SVG and PNG file types.

Spread the Running Love

Do you know another running friend?  Or maybe someone who is also training for a race and needs some motivation via these running svg files.

I would be honored if you would send them to this post so they can download them as well.  Remember, friends don’t let friends have ugly cut files (or dull workout clothes)!

You can copy and paste the link of this post into a message for them, or use the share buttons here on the post and easily spread the word on social media.

Friendly Reminder: These designs are not to be distributed outside of this blog post.  You can also use these designs for personal or commercial use up to 200 uses in your own home.  (Sorry no screen prints or print on demand shops are allowed). Please remember though, the digital file itself isn’t to be shared or distributed outside of this blog post.  Thanks for understanding and if you have questions don’t hesitate to reach out!

Wish me luck and send good vibes my way as I embark on a crazy goal.

Thanks so much for being here and supporting my small business!  Every pin, share, comment, and like makes a difference!

I see you and it really fills my bucket. (Don’t forget to show-off what you ended up making!)

Happy crafting and chaos!

-Michelle

I wish you success on reaching your goal(s). My exercise routine has been in place for years: Mornings – I run to the bathroom and Evenings – I yawn.

This made me laugh! Thank You! šŸ™‚

Thank you for creating some fitness ones! How exciting you are training for a half. My advice is to the training plan…but, don’t sweat it if you do miss a run or two – that won’t derail you, and enjoy every moment come race day. Think of it as a catered run with spectators, aid stations, etc. There will never be another “first” half. Which one are you doing?

    • MyDesigns on January 8, 2022 at 11:15 am

You are very welcome. Thanks for those tips! I’m nervous but excited at the same time. I will be doing one in Houston. šŸ™‚

Find your pace. Don’t start out full speed. Do 2 and 1 minute intervals. Walk 1 minute, speed walk, jog, run for 2 or in reverse. The goal is not how fast you are, it’s finishing. Stay hydrated. . Enjoy yourself, listen to your body, don’t get in your own head. A 15 minute mile is the same distance as a 8 minute mile.
This is coming from a person that never even thought about being a runner till I was 50 years old.
My son is 32 disabled, O signed him up for Ainsley’s ANGELS . He sits in a special made chair and a runner pushes him in the race. After a few months I wanted to try and gave it my best shot. First day I ever ran I did 2 5ks that day. Eaching pushing my son ( he weighed 200.)Probably did a 100 races a year.
Constantly heard but did you die? Sometimes I thought I had.
I’ve dobe 3 half marathons before I injured my knee, ankle and big toe at mile 12. After healing and therapy I tried to return to it but just can’t physically can no longer do it. So, main thing, listen to your body and enjoy joy it.
PS. My nickname is turtle šŸ¢. Turtles can place also. LOL

Thank you so much for the helpful advice! I appreciate it!

  5. Maria on January 14, 2023 at 3:28 pm

That’s amazing I started running in my 50’s and have not attempted a full marathon. It’s not something I’ve wanted to do but sure applaud those that do I know how hard it is to complete a half marathon and never wanted to put in the extra hours for a full. Congratulations what an amazing accomplishment.

    • MyDesigns on January 20, 2023 at 9:06 am

Thank you so much Maria for those kind words. It was absolutely not easy but neither is a half. Keep up the good work!
