My Early Voting Memories

I remember growing up my parents would volunteer as poll workers or election moderators.  This made election season very busy but also super fun.  We would get to the voting site (usually an elementary school) super early and then stake it out all day long.  It was so fun watching people have the chance to come and have their two cents in the future of our country.

My first experience with being on the voter side of the voting booth for a presidential election was so special because I felt like I had come full circle after watching things from the other side all those years.  I wore my ‘I voted’ sticker proudly but unfortunately social media wasn’t around yet for me to document it… and now I’m probably really dating myself LOL!

Now days I always like to joke that if I don’t post my ‘I Voted’ photo to social media did it even really happen?  This is one of my son and me from the last election.  It was a good experience for him (his first time to be exposed to the polls).  Hopefully I’m making good memories and setting a positive tone to remember to have our voices heard and always go vote like my parents did for me.

Let’s Do Our Part

One thing that is really cool for us crafters with cutting machines is that in addition to getting to wear the ‘I Voted’ sticker we also get to add those messages (and these free vote SVG designs) to anything we want.  Place them on a hat, a shirt, a bag, a sign, or even a car decal.  What a great way to show patriotic support year round.  No matter what you believe if you don’t vote unfortunately you don’t get a say.

Historically our nation’s voting turn out is one that could use improvement.  Honestly if it isn’t 100% it could use improvement right?!  I’m trying to do my small part by helping us all get the message out with these vote SVG files.

Everyone should have a chance to be heard.  Voting is a great way to do it.   The future really does belong to those who vote.  Cori over at Hey Let’s Make Stuff has a super cute voting SVG file that says exactly that.  Like the designs here, her designs are also great with Silhouette or Cricut cutting machines.  You can check out her voting design bundle here.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.  VOTE

Don’t forget if this design was being applied to a shirt or hat make sure to use Heat Transfer Vinyl.  The vinyl won’t adhere to the item until it is heated up.  If it is a decal that is going on a car, mug, or keychain, adhesive vinyl is going to be the best choice.  Learn about all the different types of vinyl and when to use what in more detail over here on this post.

Inside Club Chaos (our monthly SVG membership) there are also a few additional election season designs.  They are a little more lighthearted.  Tacos and Queso anyone?  Learn more about the Club and the exclusive designs offered by joining the waitlist here.  Each month members get brand new exclusive designs, blank mock up images, guest designer files, and more.

Even to this day I still love to people watch just as I did during those election days growing up.    Have you ever been a poll worker?  I would love to hear about it below!

Thank for for the svg files! I have a question. When trying to print for an iron on I lose the colors 🙁 Do I need to contour everything, cut each color seperately, then put back together?

    • jespsantiago on November 7, 2020 at 10:55 pm

Yes. Each color will need to be cut separately then pressed in layers.
